Beth Overton, CPM
Beth Overton is the Director of the Corpus Christi Birth Center. She has been a licensed midwife since 1998 and has attended close to 400 deliveries. Beth’s specialty is out-of-hospital birth including home birth and birth center deliveries. She also has experience working as a doula in the hospital setting.
Beth meets the standards and qualifications set by the North American Registry of Midwives to train student midwives and she has a passion for working with and teaching student midwives. She has been active in both the Association of Texas Midwives and has served on several Ad Hoc committees for the Texas State Midwifery Board. Grace Franz is studying to be a midwife through the Association of Texas Midwives training program. Grace is now in the final stages of her training which means she is able to care for clients under the supervision of a qualified preceptor (Beth Overton). Grace joined the team at Corpus Christi Birth Center on June 6, 2015. Grace has a gentle and sweet spirit with a good sense of humor. She works well with our team at CCBC. She is from Oklahoma and has committed to stay with us for the duration of her training and then join our staff as a licensed midwife.
Grace also works in our office on Mondays. When you call, she will be happy to help you with appointments, take messages or answer your questions about the birth center.
We are excited to introduce Adlai Welfel is from Floresville, Texas. She began her apprenticeship with us in September 2016. Adlai is enrolled in the Association of Texas Midwives Training Program. Adlai is full of enthusiasm and has a gentle spirit.
Adlai loves to quilt. She owns her own quilting business which helps to support her through her schooling. So be sure to visit the Crown Quilting Studio Facebook Page to learn more about her beautiful quilts!
Adlai also loves guns, hunting and even participation in Civil War re-enactments. She is a true Texan and country girl! But she has also traveled outside the US recently on a 6 week mission trip to Southeast Asia. She has a deep faith in Jesus and a love for missions. She is considering future mission work after she completes her midwifery training.
Cara Springer is our newest student. Cara is getting her midwifery schooling through The Midwifery Institute of America and the NARM PEP process. Cara joined our team in February, 2017. Currently she is observing prenatals on Tuesdays and learning the basics of the Birth Center. She is an eager student and we expect her to begin attending births sometime in May of 2017. After Grace Frantz completes her apprenticeship and becomes a staff midwife (before the end of 2017), Cara will most likely become a full time student with us at that time. Cara lives in Portland, Texas.
Our Office Staff
Dona joined our team in September of 2016 and comes to us with 15 years experience in the medical field as an insurance Biller.She has a passion for patient/client relations and really loves dealing with the insurance companies on the patients behalf.Dona has been married for 30 years, has three “children” ages 37, 32, and 27 and four grandchildren. Family, baking and serving her community are the passions that keep her constantly on the go.She and her family are involved in Christian Warriors Retreat, Veterans Serving Veterans is closest to her heart, as her husband, both sons and many family members have served in our Armed Forces. She has been to 14 countries and 43 states, and is a Native New Yorker. Dona is also an active member of her church praise and worship team at St. Johns UMC and signs music as part of worship due to a hearing loss. Her dream is to create a “deaf choir” so those that cannot hear can see God through Music.Dona’s favorite saying is “I am a survivor because: I can do all things through him who gives me strength Philippians 4:13”
